What is The Tao of Thoreau?

Simple

There is another book within Thoreau's Walden, a book that calls us to use Nature as a pattern for our lives. Following this natural path reveals what is truly important, and exposes what throws us off the track. The Tao of Thoreau is about simplification so we can find what we are meant to be.

Powerful

Thoreau's path is the path of power. As Lao Tzu stated long ago in the Tao Te Ching, finding oneness with the natural way leads us to the power of our true nature. Thoreau put it as traveling "the only path I can, that on which no power can resist me." This is the "non-action" of Taoism, when you are no longer doing, but being, thus "nothing is left undone." You are doing what you are meant for because you are who you are meant to be.

Goodness

Most importantly, The Tao of Thoreau teaches the path of goodness. Lao Tzu said thousands of years ago: "I have just three things to teach: simplicity, patience, compassion." Centuries later, Henry David Thoreau gave us the formula of "a life of simplicity, independence, magnanimity, and trust." Being a simple, generous and open person leads to uncovering the connection to the source of all power, resulting in a deep, meaningful, free life of fulfillment. The Tao of Thoreau is the guide to a life of simplicity, power, and goodness.
